Description
This striking raffia panel is a fine example of Kuba textile art, one of Central Africa's most celebrated weaving traditions. Handcrafted by artisans of the Kuba Kingdom in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the cloth features the iconic interlocking geometric motifs — known as ishyeen imaalu — rendered in rich earthy tones of deep brown, warm caramel, and natural cream. Each panel is a unique composition: no two are identical.
Traditionally used in royal ceremonies, initiation rites, and as prestige gifts, these textiles carry deep cultural significance. Today they are prized by collectors, interior designers, and lovers of African art worldwide. Display it as a wall hanging, use it as a table runner, or frame it as a centrepiece in any contemporary or eclectic space.
